Blog review of the 'lessonstream'

Hello, everyone! This is my first time doing the blog and I would like to share with you some good and interesting findings in English teaching in this place. And today I would like to start this by sharing with you my personal review of the blog by Jamie Keddie (a Barcelona-based teacher trainer and storyteller) via https://lessonstream.com/blog/

According to his blog title, we can easily learn that this blog aims to provide ideas of stories for teachers to make their lesson plans.

The layout of this blog is nice and clean, articles are listed in two columns which makes the whole page looks clean and uncrowded. The title of each article is enlarged, and there are some preview contents of the article, making it easy for readers to get the text's main point directly and decide if they want to click into it. Each article comes with an interesting picture above the title, which can attract readers' attention. These pictures are not just for fun but also related to the topics of each article. Tags of the categories of the article are also provided at the top of the articles, which allows the readers to choose and filter the articles easily.

The thing that surprised me is that even though most of these articles are interesting and useful for teaching, there is 0 comment on those articles for the whole blog. I found a 'SUBSCRIBE TO THE LESSONSTREAM POST' button at the bottom of each article page, I guess people can only see the comments after the subscription. That sounds not so nice for me cuz I just want to take a look at the comments and haven't decided to register for this website yet (you know entering those personal information and waiting for email verification are really boring and time consuming).

Although it says we can download some free lesson plans, joining their membership still costs money. So you should consider whether you really need to join the membership or just download some free lesson plans, that's up to you.

Alright, that's all I want to share today. I will continue sharing new findings about English teaching with you. See you next time!

  1. Hey, Yifan. Thank you for you review on 'The lessonstream Blog'. That was very useful. It is very interesting that you even noticed that most of the posts have not a single comment in it. I haven't realized that when I was reviewing it. Overall, your text is really nice; however, I would 'justify' it and make the initial subheading bold. This would make your text look even better!

  2. Hi Yifan - this is a great start to your blogging journey, well done for a clear and personal first post. I like the way your opinions come through which makes your blog more trust-worthy. You set up a close relationship with the reader which is what a blog should do! It's actually pretty common for blog posts to have no comments, but it's a shame. I see you have already got one and I hope you will continue to get comments for every post! I don't know if subscribing to Jamie Keddie's blog will make any difference to whether you see the comments - it's a good question! Good work so far - perhaps next time practise embedding a YouTube video?

  3. Hi,Yifan. I ENJOY reading your blog. It is detailed so I can have a clear understanding about the content And may I give some advice? Maybe you can adjust the spacing of paragraphs and also pics, perhaps this helps to look more structure.
